Hi

Hello!

This is what I've realized: things finally feel really normal for me here.  While it is nice to be feeling at home, it is also making finding cool things to tell ya'll about less obvious.  But I havent given up!

Today I missed the bus for the first time ever!  So I took a minibus taxi to campus.  Usually this is a very good way to get where you want to go, but I chose the wrong taxi.  We drove at around 20 mph all the way to Bellville.  It took over an hour!  Luckily I didn't miss anything important.

Yesterday was sunny and beautiful, and wonder of wonders, my only lecture was canceled.  So I walked up to Rhodes Memorial and read my book.  The Memorial is one of my favorite places in Cape Town.  It just feels very out of place.  Like it was left there and forgotten.  Here are some pictures:

Spring Break!

After Kruger Emma and I went to wilderness to get some beach time.  It was very very nice to get away and I took many naps. Here is the photo evidence.

Last night I played a game with Chilli, which is one of South Africa's best clubs.  It was mixed, and their girls were playing without subs (counting me) so there was a lot of playing time.  I had a great time remembering how much I like frisbee, but being the worst one on the field really sucks! Luckily everyone was very nice, and in the end it made me want to play with them more than hide under a rock forever.  Here is the blister I found this morning:

oops!  the cleats I borrowed were too big!

the outfit for the day.  Usually my bed is made, but this is also what my side of the room looks like!

Tonight two of my programmates are performing at open mic night! It's going to be super fun!  Oh! and yesterday I received my first piece of mail here, a post card from Peru postmarked for the 22nd of July.  What a hoot!

Kruger!

Greetings!

Hi there!  This is my mid spring break check in!  I am stilling in an internet cafe in Observatory uploading the pictures of my safari and enjoying a beautiful day!  I have been thinking about all of you a lot, but in a good way!  I am very excited to see you all when I get home, but I am as ever, having a ball of a time here.

This break marks the midpoint of my semester here at in Cape Town and at UWC.  It feels odd considering that most of my friends are just starting school or studying abroad now.

All of these are on facebook as well, but for those of you not on the book, here are some pictures (with commentary) of my safari and trip:
